Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Chocolate covered strawberries are a classic. They bring on a sense of luxury to the table and all you need to create this special atmosphere are strawberries and chocolate. This will do the trick.

Sometimes it is the simple things that stand out more. Something with many complex flavors and textures can be classified as just another dessert, which most people will appreciate, but they won't remember it as something that stands out in their minds.

If you are someone who has a sweet tooth then you are going to love this recipe.

Someone I know once worked as a pastry chef where they used to have a fairly extensive menu. There were desserts that took hours of preparation. However, it was the simplest thing that sold the best. This involved just two ingredients and took a couple of minutes to put together.

You can do chocolate covered strawberries in a number of different ways, but if you use your imagination, you can come up with something that guests will be talking about for a long time to come. We all know that strawberries dipped in chocolate are really special, but if we go one step further and almost stuff the strawberries with luxurious chocolate to create a dessert within itself, we will really be producing some magic.

All you need for this are your two main ingredients and a good paring knife. First we are going to take the stalk out and hollow out the center. You can do this by carefully using an apple corer to get the meat of the strawberry out, without going all the way through. Then you just have to neaten it up. Essentially, we are making a little cup so there should be space for the liquid to go inside. This is why you want the biggest strawberries you can find.

The next step is to chop up your chocolate and put it on the double boiler to melt. Just leave this on a simmer and leave it to melt. This lovely liquid is going to go inside the strawberries and you are going to place it directly on the plate. You don't have to worry about balancing the strawberries on the plate because you can basically glue them down with a little melted chocolate and the just put them in the fridge. Just spoon in the melted chocolate into the strawberries just before you are serving.

If you want to make an interesting liqueur, you can add something like vodka with the melted chocolate. You can add a lot of different flavorings here. Dip the strawberries in the chocolate as well and this will create a nice effect. Once you have done that just pop them in the refrigerator on some wax proof paper so they will be easy enough to take off again.

Have a couple of spares going because your guests or hungry family members are most likely want to come up for seconds. A scoop of vanilla ice-cream will go very well with a dessert like this.
